We aim to eat healthy with simple and easy-to-cook dishes. One of the healthiest ingredients that I used to cook my healthy meals is the tempeh which according to many articles is a good substitute for meat protein. I always buy my tempeh in the farmers' market (pasar tani); it is fresh and cheap.
A simple dish that I always make is Tempeh Fried with Onions. It takes less than 10 minutes to cook it.
The ingredients are:
- 1 piece of tempeh, cut into small cubes
- 1 medium size onion, cut into rings.
- 1 stalk of spring onion, cut into 1/2 an inch length
- 1 chili padi, cut into small pieces (optional)
- Light soy sauce to taste.
Method:
- Saute the tempeh until it is brown. Then turn them over to brown the other side. Dish out and set aside.
- Put a tbsp of oil into the wok. Saute the onion rings till they are soft and brown.
- Add the sauteed tempeh into the wok. Stir.
- Add in the chili padi (optional).
- Season with light soy sauce (according to taste).
- Sprinkle the spring onion into the wok and give the dish a good stir.
- Dish out the tempeh and onions onto a serving dish.
